I get asked one question more than any other these days: "Are you really going to stay retired or are you going to do something else?"
As I make decisions about moving into a final stage of my professional career, I have a lot of thinking and figuring out to do. I also have a lot of experience to share about professional consulting services, culture building and improving employee satisfaction and retention.
I'm going to use this space to do some writing on those thoughts and experiences and see where it all may lead.
John Quirk is an accomplished technology executive and entrepreneur with over 30 years of experience leading high-performance consulting and professional services teams to drive organizational success.
He began his career as an economics major from Bradley University, where he was a nationally ranked member of an award-winning forensics speech program in the early 1980s. This foundation in critical thinking, communication and competitive excellence foreshadowed the visionary leadership capabilities that would define his path forward.
In 2004, John joined PSC Group as a management consultant specializing in portal solutions. He rapidly rose through the ranks to become Vice President of Operations in 2008, playing a central role in expanding services and overseeing all aspects of delivery for PSC’s Chicago branch office.
In 2013, John along with three other managers, acquired PSC Group from the founders - officially transitioning to a Partner role. Over the next 9 years as a Partner directing business expansion efforts, he was instrumental in driving corporate growth, increasing revenue to $15 million, and improving employee satisfaction and retention while cementing PSC’s award-winning culture that landed the firm on Crain’s Chicago Business’ coveted “Best Places to Work” lists throughout his tenure.
As a senior executive, John worked closely with his partners and sales team to guide PSC Group's business expansion. The results include accelerating revenue consistently while diversifying the client portfolio across size and industry segments. Several anchor accounts contributed significant recurring business, while hundreds of additional customer technology partnerships were continually established with smaller to midsized companies. This deliberate growth in the client mix was matched by PSC's consistent strength in fostering genuine loyalty among accounts, earning sustained partnerships and multi-year engagements from a meaningful portion of clients won.
As part of his visionary leadership, John helped conceive the innovative “Five Points of Excellence” program - a structured professional development and advancement framework focused on nurturing star talent tied to organizational imperatives. This model was a central ingredient in PSC’s consistent recognition for excellence in company culture.
In 2021, John and his partners orchestrated the successful sale of PSC to Netrix Global. He joined Netrix as VP of Modern Applications & Data Intelligence, broadening his executive influence. Now, in 2024 and beyond, John looks forward to applying over 35 years of diverse leadership learnings as he embarks on his next entrepreneurial chapter.
